FESTIVAL HOURS:
Friday, Sept 20th, 6pm-Midnight Saturday, Sept 21st, 11am-Midnight Sunday, Sept 22nd, 11am-11pm
PARKING:
In order to make it to your shift on time, you must make AMPLE time for parking. The first suggestion is not to drive in at all; take a bike, have a friend drop you off, order an Uber. Please figurine in alternate transportation, or parking time into your calculations, so you arrive on time, and things run smoothly for everyone.
WHAT TO BRING:
Be prepared for the elements. It will be hot; bring a hat, water bottle, and sunscreen. There is always a chance of rain; bring a poncho or umbrella. You will get one or two 15 minute breaks; this is typically not enough time to wait in food lines; bring a lunch. Bring your phone with a full charge.
CHECKING IN:
Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your start time. When you arrive, report to the white tent, behind the Library, in the City Hall parking lot (see map below). Call or Text Alexis once you arrive 313.610.3565. Post assignments and rounds will don’t be posted ahead of time. I will let you know your assignment at check in, thank you.
JOB #1:
Whether you are doing Ground or stationed with E/E, your primary function is to be the eyes and ears of the festival. And to report disruptive behavior to the Ferndale Police. There are police on festival grounds at all times. Alcohol must not leave festival grounds. Avoid confrontation; if people disregard our alcohol policy, alert the police. If you see an altercation, alert the police.
TRAINING:
If you haven’t done so already, please complete this online training regarding Grounds & E/E. It is required. Click Here.
COMMUNICATION:
The festival is noisy; text message may be your best form of communication for non-urgent issues. Text alexis at 313.610.3565. Walkie talkies are assigned to each E/E post. Our channel will be shared and monitored by the Ferndale Police Department. Please use proper etiquette when using your walkie. If the batteries start running low, contact me for a swap. Make sure you hand off your walkie talkie when you are relieved. At the end of the evening, please return your walkie to the White Tent
PHONES:
Have your phone on hand to contact an Organizer during your shift. Alexis’ number is 313.610.3565. Other than contacting us, phone uses is prohibited. Observation is your most important job; you cannot do that and be on your phone simultaneously. Thank you.
